Paleo Apple Cobbler Recipe: Grain-Free Rustic Apple Dessert

I don’t know about you, but I’m a dessert person—I usually want something sweet after dinner. My favorite treats are cobblers in many forms, and this Paleo Apple Cobbler is one of my family’s go-tos.

Simple to make and full of cozy flavor, this cobbler evokes summer cookouts and warm, homey kitchens. It uses just a handful of pantry staples: green apples, almond meal, honey, lemon, cinnamon, and coconut oil—ingredients I often have on hand.

I like making individual cobblers in 3″ ramekins. Single servings look charming and make portion control effortless. Serve warm on its own, or add a scoop of dairy-free ice cream (coconut milk ice cream works well) for an extra-special finish.

I don’t know about you all, but I’m a dessert gal. I usually need something sweet after dinner. My favorite dessert recipes are usually various renditions of cobblers.

Ingredients

  • 4 Green apples
  • 1 cup Almond meal
  • 1 Large lemon, juiced
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 2 tablespoons Cold virgin coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange eight 3″ ramekins on a baking sheet.
  3. Wash and thinly slice the apples.
  4. Toss the apple slices with honey, lemon juice, and half the cinnamon.
  5. Stir the remaining cinnamon into the almond meal.
  6. Use your hands or a pastry cutter to mash the coconut oil into the almond meal until the mixture is crumbly. If the oil is firm, it’s easier to work with.
  7. Divide the apples evenly among the ramekins and top each with an equal portion of the almond-crumble mixture.
  8. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the apples are tender.
  9. Let cool for about 5 minutes, then serve warm.
