Why You’ll Love These Delicious Strawberry Bliss Balls

I’ve loved strawberries for as long as I can remember, and these bliss balls capture that flavour in a portable, foolproof snack. They’re excellent for travel — great on plane rides or road trips — and they’re made in just two simple steps and about 10 minutes. This recipe stays oil-free because the nuts supply the healthy fats you need, keeping the bites satisfying without added oils.

Freeze-dried strawberries are the secret to the intense, candy-like berry flavour without extra moisture, which helps the texture stay consistent. Depending on the season and how soft your dates are, the mixture may be firmer in cool weather and softer in warm weather; you can easily adjust with more oats for firmness or a drier nut like almonds. For a charming presentation, shape them into little strawberries and top with micro mint, basil, or thyme — herbs pair surprisingly well with berries and add a fresh contrast.

Ingredient Notes

Below are notes on the key ingredients; the recipe card has exact measurements.

  • Medjool dates: Naturally sweet and sticky, they bind the mixture while adding depth. Soft dried figs or raisins can substitute in a pinch.
  • Raw cashews: Provide a creamy, neutral base that lets the strawberry flavour shine. Almonds or macadamia nuts work if you prefer.
  • Freeze-dried strawberries: Deliver concentrated berry flavour without moisture, which keeps the texture right. Swap in freeze-dried raspberries for a tangier note.
  • Rolled oats: Add structure and fiber. Use certified gluten-free oats if needed.
  • Vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract: Enhances sweetness and rounds out the flavour.
  • Cashew butter or other nut butter: Adds richness and helps the mixture hold together. Try almond butter, macadamia butter or tahini for variation.
  • Micro mint, basil, or thyme (optional): Fresh herb garnishes add a surprising and delightful contrast to the sweetness.

How to Make Strawberry Bliss Balls

Step 1: Place all ingredients except garnish in a food processor. Pulse until a dough forms and the mix pulls away from the sides. If it’s too dry, add a little more nut butter; if too wet, stir in more oats.

Step 2: Shape the dough into tablespoon-sized balls, or press into small strawberry shapes and finish with herbs or greens for the “stem.”

Secrets to Success

  • Adjust the mixture for date softness and room temperature: add oats if sticky, add nut butter if dry.
  • Damp hands reduce sticking and make rolling smoother.
  • Fresh herbs as garnish provide a bright counterpoint to the sweetness and look attractive.
  • To make chocolate-strawberry bliss balls, add a tablespoon of cacao powder or dip finished balls in melted dark chocolate.

Serving Tips

  • Enjoy these bliss balls as a quick snack, pre-workout boost, or a light dessert.
  • They pair well with herbal tea, a matcha latte, or alongside a fresh salad. They’re also lovely with a dollop of vegan yogurt.

Storage Tips

Keep the bliss balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week — chilling firms them up and preserves shape.

For longer storage, freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet, then transfer to a freezer-safe container. They keep well for up to three months; let them sit at room temperature a few minutes before eating.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use fresh strawberries instead of freeze-dried?

Fresh strawberries add moisture and will change the texture and shelf life, so freeze-dried berries are recommended for the concentrated flavour and dry texture.

Can I add protein powder to these?

Yes — a scoop of plant-based protein powder works well. You may need to tweak the wet ingredients to keep the right consistency.

These strawberry bliss balls are an easy, wholesome snack—naturally sweet, oil-free, and full of real strawberry flavour. They combine Medjool dates, cashews and freeze-dried strawberries into a quick treat ready in minutes.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 pitted medjool dates
  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 1/2 – 3/4 cup freeze dried strawberries (add more or less for flavour intensity of your choice)
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 vanilla bean or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp raw cashew butter or nut butter of choice

Optional

  • micro mint, basil or thyme leaves for garnish

Notes

  • Adjust the mixture based on date softness and room temperature: more oats if sticky, more nut butter if dry.
  • Damp hands make rolling easier and less sticky.
  • Fresh herbs make a pretty, flavorful garnish.
  • To add chocolate, mix in a tablespoon of cacao powder or roll finished balls in melted dark chocolate.
