Learn how to make perfect hard-boiled eggs in the air fryer. Because an air fryer cooks with precise hot air circulation, this method is dependable and easy. Use the timing chart to choose the doneness you prefer—shorter times yield soft or jammy yolks, while longer times produce fully set yolks and eggs that peel cleanly.

Hard Boiled Eggs Come out Perfect in an Air Fryer!
This is one of the simplest ways to cook eggs. You don’t need special equipment beyond your air fryer, and the method is cleaner and more consistent than boiling on the stove or using an Instant Pot.
The air fryer works well for soft-boiled or hard-boiled eggs—adjust the time to get the texture you want. Because each air fryer model performs a little differently, start with the times in the chart and fine-tune them to your machine.
Air fryer eggs are great for a fast breakfast with a pinch of salt or everything bagel seasoning. Hard-boiled eggs are also convenient for salads, egg salad sandwiches, deviled eggs, potato salad, or prepping for Easter egg decorating.
What You’ll Need
- Air fryer — any model that fits the number of eggs you plan to cook. If your fryer’s lowest temperature is higher, reduce the cook time slightly.
- Large eggs — fresh eggs work best. If you use smaller eggs, shorten the time a bit.

How to Cook Eggs in an Air Fryer
Step 1: Preheat the air fryer to 250ºF (120ºC). If your air fryer only goes down to 300ºF, that’s fine—just reduce the cook time by a couple of minutes.
Step 2: Place eggs in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd, or they may cook unevenly. I’ve cooked anywhere from 2 to 10 eggs at once with good results. No water is needed—put the eggs in directly.

Step 3: Prepare an ice water bath: fill a large bowl with ice and cold water. When the eggs finish cooking, transfer them immediately to the ice bath and let them sit about 10 minutes. This cools them for handling and stops the cooking process.
Step 4: Crack and peel. The shells typically come off easily after the ice bath—tap, roll, and peel under running water if needed.

Air Fryer Egg Cooking Times
Use the chart below as a guide for doneness. Because air fryers vary, treat these times as starting points and adjust to suit your model and the number of eggs you cook.
Soft-boiled eggs take less time, while hard-boiled eggs need more. Cooking more eggs at once can add a minute or two—for example, two eggs might be perfect at 14 minutes, while five or six could need 16–18 minutes. Reduce time for smaller batches or increase it for larger ones.
If you prefer a jammy yolk, shorten the time slightly. For fully set yolks and firmer whites, add a few extra minutes.

How to Store Cooked Eggs
After cooling in the ice bath, refrigerate eggs within two hours. Hard-boiled eggs (peeled or unpeeled) keep for up to 7 days in the refrigerator. Store peeled eggs in an airtight container; unpeeled eggs will stay freshest in their carton or a covered bowl. Soft-boiled eggs are best eaten the same day.
Preparing a batch of hard-boiled eggs is great for meal prep—keep a bowl ready for quick snacks or to add to salads and sandwiches throughout the week.
How to Serve Hard Boiled Eggs
Hard-boiled eggs are versatile: enjoy them for breakfast, slice them on salads, mash them for egg salad, or make deviled eggs. Soft-boiled or jammy eggs are excellent on avocado toast or ramen.
They also pair well with breakfast proteins like air-fried bacon—or use grated hard-boiled egg as a garnish for salads and bowls.

The chart shows suggested times based on one air fryer. Adjust times for your model and the batch size. Cook fewer eggs for a minute or two less; add time when cooking many eggs at once.
Soft-boiled eggs require less time; hard-boiled eggs need more minutes to fully set the yolk and white.
For a jammy yolk with fully set whites, aim for the mid-range times and adjust by experience.
