I created this Orange Wellness Smoothie to help fight seasonal colds and to support immunity year-round. When my two-year-old son caught a cold last week, I wanted a whole-foods approach that could strengthen our household’s defenses. This smoothie worked for us, and I’m excited to share the recipe.

Smoothies are a regular part of our routine—we often make nutrient-packed blends like the Strawberry Banana Almond Smoothie to add vitamins that aren’t always present in gluten-free grain alternatives. Because my family enjoys smoothies, I chose this format to deliver immune-supporting ingredients. I selected vegetables and fruits high in antioxidants and nutrients known to support immunity and reduce oxidative stress: carrot, turmeric, orange, peach, and ginger.
Here’s why each ingredient made the list. Peaches provide not only antioxidants but also minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, zinc, and copper. Turmeric is prized for anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds; I used ground turmeric when fresh wasn’t available. Ginger adds anti-inflammatory benefits and is commonly used to support immune response and help fight infections. Oranges are an excellent source of vitamin C—a single medium orange supplies a large portion of daily vitamin C needs. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, fiber, and vitamins A, C, K, several B vitamins, potassium, iron, copper, folate, and manganese.
Many of these foods are also linked to broader health benefits, including reduced risk for certain chronic diseases, improved brain health, and better gut function. I personally noticed improved digestion, less bloating, and more energy after regularly drinking this smoothie, so I plan to include these ingredients more often in our meals.
The recipe is both adult- and kid-friendly. It has a bright, fresh flavor with a little zing from the ginger—my children enjoyed that mild spiciness. Below is the simple recipe for one serving; scale up as needed.
