Creamy Sweet Potato Hummus Recipe for Fall Entertaining

Enjoy this Sweet Potato Hummus that is perfect for dipping!

Sweet Potato HummusAre you a hummus fan? Have you tried sweet potato hummus? This creamy, slightly sweet variation elevates classic hummus with roasted sweet potato for a delicious twist.

Hummus is one of my favorite dips — a close rival to my dill dip. My daughter and I could easily lick the bowl clean. Lately I experimented by blending sweet potato into the mix, and the result was a lovely, subtly sweet hummus that’s both familiar and new.

Sweet Potato Hummus serving

Essentially this recipe combines classic hummus with cooked sweet potato and a touch of maple syrup, adding depth and a hint of warmth. A light dusting of cinnamon on top makes it especially cozy. It keeps the creamy texture you expect from hummus while introducing a mellow sweetness and beautiful color.

This sweet potato hummus is ideal for entertaining. It pairs well with a cheese board, crackers, bagel chips, pretzels, or a selection of raw vegetables. I particularly enjoy the sweet-and-salty contrast with pretzels, but it’s equally nice with crisp apple slices or toasted pita.

My family loved our classic hummus, so I thought adding maple syrup and sweet potato would be a fun change. It quickly became a regular in our fridge. Besides being delicious, it’s a lighter snack option that helps satisfy cravings for chips and dip when I want to save calories without sacrificing flavor.

I often use it as a dip for carrots, celery, bell peppers, or other raw vegetables. It’s a smart swap for heavier dips, and it holds up well for snacking, parties, or an easy addition to a spread.
