Top 10 Recipes of 2024

Another year has wrapped up, and for me 2024 flew by. A big part of that was moving — buying a new place and relocating the business was more involved than I expected. I’m still finishing touches around the house months later, but it’s getting there.

Tech and AI kept shaping the landscape for creators this year. I spoke in New York about AI’s effects on creators’ businesses and livelihoods, and it’s clear the impact will be significant. We’re already seeing content scraping and AI-generated noise affect visibility on social platforms and search. Despite these challenges, I remain optimistic. This work has always required adapting, and I plan to keep evolving the site and community.

A highlight this year was celebrating Downshiftology’s 10th anniversary. When I started, I simply loved sharing healthy recipes and didn’t imagine it would become a decade-long adventure. Thank you for being part of that journey — the site was viewed more than 126 million times this year, up from 115 million last year. That level of support and engagement from this community means everything.

Looking ahead to 2025, I want to do more community-focused activities, possibly in-person events. I also plan to share more Asian-inspired recipes early in the year and will be traveling more, so publishing may be a little slower while I’m on the road. I’ve already got several trips planned, including a trip to Spain in June that I’m really excited about.

Video continues to be competitive, especially short-form content where quantity often wins the algorithm. I still prioritize quality and encourage you to stay connected through my email list so you don’t miss new recipes and updates.

Which new recipes were your favorites in 2024? Slow cooker birria and birria tacos were huge hits, and comfort classics like meatloaf and chicken Marsala performed very well. Longstanding favorites such as chili, beef stew, white chicken chili, and Tuscan chicken also stayed popular. Overall, Mexican and Mediterranean flavors, slow cooker convenience, and one-pan simplicity remained crowd-pleasers.

Thank you for rating recipes, leaving comments, and trusting the recipes I create — they’re all 100% human-developed by me. Your feedback not only helps other home cooks, it also helps these recipes perform better in search. Cheers to a healthy and delicious 2025!
